ANSI Gears up for an Interactive Company Member Forum during World Standards Week 2019

10/10/2019

Registration Open for November 5 event in Washington, DC

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is gearing up for the Company Member Forum (CMF) on November 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during World Standards Week 2019. Register on the World Standards Week webpage.

Standards Capacity Workshop

An open discussion centered on the best practices with respect to managing staff and resources within a company's standards group, the Standards Capacity Workshop will help participants build a "standards culture" within their corporations. Highlighted topics include:

  • Communicating the value of standards activities to executive leadership
  • Using internships and employee rotation to educate new and existing staff about standardization
  • Managing conflict in standards meetings - how to argue points constructively
  • Useful training that staff should complete before representing their company in a standards venue

Confirmed CMF speakers include Elisabeth George, vice president, global regulations and standards, Philips; Nadja Infanti, senior manager, global codes and standards, Carrier; and Jim Matthews, director, technical standards, Corning Incorporated.

Mary Saunders, ANSI's vice president of government relations, will also share key updates on tariffs, trade regulations, and more - and explain the implications for companies operating in the U.S. and globally, at the conclusion of the forum meeting.

A Look Back at ANSI's Spring CMF in Santa Clara

The June CMF event on June 24-25 in Santa Clara, CA, included interactive discussions with more than 60 member attendees on topics including:

  • China standards reform
  • Bilateral/multilateral trade agreements and standards
  • Standards management and capacity
  • 5G and digital transformation
  • Sustainability and the circular economy
  • Standards for services

According to ANSI's online feedback survey, members noted that the most informative and valuable topics were those covering Standards Management and Capacity and China Standards Reform. The input received has directly informed the programming for the CMF event during World Standards Week.

Members can access the full summary of the event via ANSI's Sharepoint, or they may contact membership at ([email protected]).
