Voluntary Standards Cover the Spectrum: from Bioprocessing Equipment to Waste Water Management

7/11/2017

In an effort to communicate the vital role that standards play in daily life, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) publishes snapshots of the diverse standards initiatives undertaken in the global and national standards arena, many of which are performed by ANSI members and ANSI-accredited standards developers. Two of the latest selections follow:

Wastewater Management

Bioprocessing Equipment

Bioprocessing equipment is an important aspect of any field with high levels of hygienic requirements, such as the pharmaceutical and personal care industries. An American National Standard - ASME BPE-2016 Bioprocessing Equipment - helps assure that sterile environments are kept sterile, and that biopharmaceutical equipment is safe and effective.

Developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the standard incorporates current best practices for enhancing product purity and safety. Companies that rigorously apply ASME-BPE often can achieve production efficiencies, lower development and manufacturing costs, and increase quality and safety, while complying with regulations.

ASME, an ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer, is a non-profit professional organization promoting the art, science, and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences. ASME develops codes and standards that enhance public safety, and enables learning and technical exchange opportunities benefiting the global engineering and technology community.
