ANSI Members Participate in Energy Policy and Technology Outlook Conference
The National Association of State Energy Offices (NASEO) hosted the 2011 State Energy Policy and Technology Outlook Conference in Washington, DC, on January 31 - February 3. The conference examined federal and state energy and environmental policies, as well as renewable energy market opportunities, to determine how states and industry can partner to advance economic development and a healthier environment.

A number of ANSI members participate in NASEO's activities as affiliate members, including ASHRAE, the Building Performance Institute, Edison Electric Institute, General Electric, and the U.S. Green Building Council. NASEO works to improve the effectiveness and quality of state energy programs and policies, provide policy input and analysis, share successes among the states, and to be a repository of information on energy issues of concern to the states and their citizens. In Time for Spring, Online Courses Feature High-Performing Guidance
With spring just around the corner, ANSI member and accredited standards developer ASHRAE wants to help you go green. As part of its spring online series, AHRAE is offering two online courses related to high-performance building design. The courses are geared toward architects, engineers, and others interested in expanding their knowledge of the HVAC industry.

  • Basics of High Performance Building Design, taking place on April 27, will focus on the use of two American National Standards (ANS) for high-performance buildings: ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2010, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, and ANSI/ASHRAE/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1-2009, Standard for the Design of High-Performance, Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.

  • Advanced High Performance Building Design on May 4 will bring focus to more advanced concepts involved in applying Standards 90.1 and 189.1 to achieve high-performance building design.
