APCO Seeks Comments on Missing Child Response Standard
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments on a candidate American National Standard (ANS) addressing public safety telecommunicators in the processing of calls reporting missing, abducted, and/or sexually exploited children.
"Reports of missing, abducted, and sexually exploited children are among the most difficult, challenging, and emotionally charged cases public-safety communications and law enforcement agencies handle," APCO International President Richard Mirgon said. "Each stage of the case, therefore, from initial call through successful recovery, forms a critical component of a thorough child-protection response."

ASSE Launches Networking Partners Program
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) has launched a Networking Partners Program. This initiative connects ASSE members who are currently seeking employment with a fellow member who will help them start up or recharge their job search.
Job seekers in the program will be connected with a networking partner in their state that will provide guidance and support, including reviewing resumes, making connections with colleagues, facilitating meetings, and more. Both networking partners and job seekers are encouraged to join.

IEC Video on Green Safety and Global Trade Features UL President
A new video produced by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) features Keith Williams, the president and CEO of Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
The video, Green Safety Facilitating Global Trade, highlights the importance of the notion of confidence in a product's safety, not just for use, but also for the environment. It is part of a series of IEC videos entitled "Global Visions" that show a series of interviews with CEOs of global companies who actively participate in IEC standardization work.

EPA Announces Winners of the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the winners of its Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards. These distinctions recognize accomplished individuals and companies in the field of green chemistry technologies, including cleaner processes, safer raw materials, and safer, better products.
This year's winners are: James C. Liao, Ph.D., Easel Biotechnologies, LLC, and University of California, Los Angeles; LS9, Inc., South San Francisco, California; The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Michigan, jointly with BASF, Florham Park, New Jersey; Merck & Co., Rahway, New Jersey, jointly with Codexis, Inc., Redwood City, California; and Clarke, Roselle, Illinois.
