People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and audited designator, recently announced the hiring of two new staff members. Dona Douglas has been selected as manager, Food Equipment Certification Program, at IAPMO Research and Testing (R&T), IAPMO's plumbing and mechanical products certification body, while Bart W. Berneche has been named senior engineer for IAPMO's Uniform Evaluation Service (UES).
Prior to joining IAPMO R&T, Ms. Douglas served as a staff chemist/regional lead reviewer for ANSI member and audited designator UL (Underwriters Laboratories), providing expert subject area knowledge related to sanitation issues. She also worked as an engineer/field representative for NSF International, an ANSI member and audited designator. Ms. Douglas received her bachelor of science degree in environmental health from North Carolina's Western Carolina University.
Mr. Berneche previously worked as a senior engineer for ANSI member and accredited standards developer the International Code Council (ICC)'s ICC Evaluation Service and as a consulting engineer for Building Systems Engineering Inc., among other positions. He received his bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of South Florida.
IAPMO was formed in 1936 to protect public health and safety by working with government and industry on the implementation of comprehensive plumbing and mechanical systems around the world.
ANSI member Diversified Inspections/ITL promoted Jerry B. Tanner to the position of executive vice president. In this position, Mr. Tanner will be responsible for overseeing the organization's continued expansion into additional domestic and international markets, among other duties.
Mr. Tanner began his 35-year tenure at Diversified Inspections/ITL as an aerial lift inspector trainee and worked his way to increasingly senior positions, including regional manager and vice president of sales/general manager. He is an active member of the standards community and currently serves as a member of Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) A92.2, Vehicle-Mounted Rotating and Elevating Work Platforms, and as the vice-chair of ANSI member and audited designator ASTM International's Committee F18, Electrical Protective Equipment for Workers, Subcommittee F18.55, Non-Destructive Test Methods for Aerial Devices.
Diversified Inspections/ITL was established in 1969 and provides nondestructive testing and inspection services for aerial lifts, lattice cranes, offshore platform barge cranes, and other vehicle mounted aerial devices. The organization works to support the safety of employees and equipment and is a recognized industry leader in its field.
