4/02/2015

Register Now for the May 6 Event in Arlington, VA

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released a draft agenda for its spring Organizational Member Forum (OMF) meeting on May 6, 2015. The meeting will be held at the headquarters of ANSI member AAMI, 4301 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 301, Arlington, VA.

Attendance is free for all ANSI OMF members, and teleconference participation is available; pre-registration is required via this link.

OMF members will hear updates on ANSI's key priorities and areas of activity, and will have the opportunity for interactive discussions on topics of interest including the following:

  • Given today's technology, what should the minimum dataset be for "due process" in standards development?

  • Is it time for a revised or new definition of consensus?

  • How do we balance consensus with getting work done faster?

  • How can we engage new and younger volunteers?

  • How can we maintain a culture of creativity in a rule-bound environment?

The agenda also features a session on AAMI's "New Standards Paradigm,"presented by the organization's senior vice president of standards, Carol Herman. Ms. Herman will outline how AAMI intends to increase the agility, quality, and relevance of its standards development process via the incorporation of supply chain and life-cycle considerations, new tools to accommodate the increasing pace of technology, and new formats for usability and delivery of standards.

For more information including teleconference details, see the full agenda here or contact Michelle Maas Deane at [email protected]. Information on AAMI's corporate room rate at nearby hotels is available at www.aami.org/about/hotel.html.
