The proposal was submitted jointly by AFNOR, the ISO member body for France, and SAC, the ISO member body for China. It was proposed that China and France be involved in the leadership, through a twinning arrangement, of a new ISO Project Committee on wheeled child conveyances, and that its deliverable(s) addressing safety requirements and test methods consider the collaborative expertise and requirements of different existing standards (e.g., U.S., China, Brazil, and Europe). The new standardization work would be expected to have the long-term beneficial effect of lowering the costs incurred by the diversity of national/regional provisions setting different obligations.
All interested stakeholders are invited to review the proposal, which includes listings of relevant standards as well as affected stakeholder categories that may benefit from or be impacted by the proposed deliverable. Based on the input received, the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) will then be asked to approve an ANSI position and comments to be submitted to ISO before its October 5, 2016, deadline for voting on this proposal.
