ACC Sponsors New App to Bolster Plastics Recycling
The Plastics Division of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, recently sponsored the creation of a new app designed to make it easier for communities to increase their rate of plastics recycling.
The app, known as the Plastics Recycling Terms & Tools, seeks to reduce confusion about recyclable plastics by providing a glossary of terms related to plastic recycling, along with corresponding images, and a tool that allows local government and other groups to create specialized recycling fliers to provide this important information to residents, among other tools. The new app was developed with the involvement of numerous plastics recycling stakeholders and is overseen by Moore Recycling Associates.

ASLA Releases Online Green Infrastructure Guide
ANSI member the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) launched a new online guide to green infrastructure - a term that describes park systems, urban forests, and other human-designed settings intended to take advantage of benefits associated with nature in urban environments.
The free guide looks at wildlife corridors, forest reserves, constructed wetlands, and other types of green infrastructure and provides relevant case studies, scientific research, and news coverage. Potential benefits associated with the implementation of green infrastructure include reduced urban energy usage, the increased sequestration of carbon dioxide, a major driver of climate change, and the reduction of flood impacts.

ISNA Becomes ANSI Accredited Standards Developer
ANSI's Executive Standards Council (ExSC) has approved ANSI organizational member the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer under its proposed operating procedures for documenting consensus on ISNA-sponsored American National Standards, effective October 7, 2014. ASAP Applies for U.S. TAG Accreditation for Collaborative Business Relationship Management
ANSI member the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP) has submitted an application for accreditation for a proposed U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Project Committee (PC) 286, Collaborative business relationship management - Framework, and has requested approval to serve as the TAG Administrator. The proposed TAG will operate using the Model Operating Procedures for U.S. Technical Advisory Groups to ANSI for ISO Activities as contained in Annex A of the ANSI International Procedures.

NFPA Applies for Accreditation of a Proposed U.S. TAG on Sustainable Development
ANSI has received an application for accreditation from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, for a proposed U.S. TAG to ISO Technical Committee (TC) 268, Sustainable development in communities, which includes ISO TC 268 Subcommittee (SC) 1, Smart community infrastructures, as well as a request by NFPA to be approved as the TAG administrator. The proposed TAG will operate using the Model Operating Procedures for U.S. Technical Advisory Groups to ANSI for ISO Activities as contained in Annex A of the ANSI International Procedures.
