ASPE and WQA Announce Partnership to Bolster Promotion of Water Treatment Standards

11/14/2013
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) members the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) and the Water Quality Association (WQA) recently announced the signing of a new agreement intended to advance the recognition of multiple American National Standards on water treatment-related topics. The three standards covered under the agreement are:

  • WQA/ASPE 1201, Electrochemical Drinking Water Treatment Systems
  • WQA/ASPE S802, Product Sustainability for Activated Carbon
  • WQA/ASPE S803, Product Sustainability for Activated Carbon Water Filtration Systems

Under the agreement, the two organizations will also work to strengthen public safety and the water treatment and plumbing engineering professions. These efforts are expected to include the development of additional joint WQA/ASPE standards, including standards on topics related to plumbing and water treatment engineering, as well as the establishment of related educational and professional certification programs and the joint promotion of sustainable water treatment approaches.
