The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released a meeting agenda for the Joint Member Forum (JMF) meeting and luncheon taking place as part of the Institute's annual spring member meetings on April 20, 2011, in Arlington, VA. The event is open to all ANSI members.

The JMF agenda is available here. Click here to register.

This highly anticipated meeting will feature special guest speaker Deborah Wince-Smith, president and CEO of the Council on Competitiveness—a coalition dedicated to advancing American competitiveness and prosperity in the global economy. Ms. Wince-Smith will provide a keynote address on "21st Century Manufacturing for an Innovation Economy."

Ms. Wince-Smith is internationally renowned as a leading voice on competitiveness, innovation strategy, science and technology, and international economic policy. As president of the Council on Competitiveness, she spearheaded the groundbreaking 2004 National Innovation Initiative (NII), which played a pivotal role in shaping the America COMPETES Act, created state and regional innovation initiatives, and brought a global focus to innovation. She previously served as the nation's first assistant secretary of commerce for technology policy in the George H.W. Bush administration, and developed President Ronald Reagan's 1988 Competitiveness Initiative.

Ms. Wince-Smith's full bio is available here.

Additional JMF agenda items include the coordinated ANSI response to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) request for comment on federal involvement in standardization; a discussion of UL's Environment Program and the development of environmentally preferable product standards; an overview of the ANSI Committee on Education's (COE's) activities for 2011-2012; and an update on the Institute's website redesign.

All member meetings will be held at the Crowne Plaza Washington National Airport (1480 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA, 22202). The schedule and event details follow:
