SES Annual Conference to Explore Evolving World of Standards
SES - The Society for Standards Professionals, a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), will host its 60th Annual Conference on August 14-16, 2011, in Las Vegas.

The theme of the conference is The Evolving World of Standards: What's on the Horizon? The conference includes a welcome reception, keynote address by ASTM International president James A. Thomas, and two days of technical sessions covering issues critical to private industry, government agencies, and standards developing organizations. In conjunction with the conference SES will offer two professional development courses for an additional cost on August 17-18. The August 17 course is entitled "A Guide to Standards"; the August 18 course will cover "Assessing Conformity to Standards."

World Standards Day 2011 Poster Competition
In celebration of World Standards Day 2011, the World Standards Cooperation (WSC) has launched a poster competition on the theme "International Standards - Creating confidence globally."

Finalists will be chosen by representatives of the WSC - a cooperative alliance of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The shortlisted entries will be published on the WSC website, and the general public will vote for the winning designs. To compete, designers should send their entries to [email protected]. The competition closes on April 30, 2011.
