IEC Announces New Short Video Competition on the Importance of International Electrotechnical Standards and Conformance

7/16/2014

All Submissions Must Be Received by September 1, 2014

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) recently announced the official launch of a new video contest highlighting the important role played by IEC standards and conformance activities in a variety of essential sectors. The IEC develops standards and other related documents associated with electrical and electronic technologies used around the world, as well a suite of associated conformity assessment programs.

To enter the World of IEC Video Competition, participants are required to submit high-definition videos of no more than three minutes in length that highlight examples of relevant IEC standards and conformity assessment programs in connection with three specific areas of interest: home, technology, and renewable energy. The first place winner will receive a cash prize of 3,000 Swiss francs, while the second- and third-place winners will receive 2,000 and 500 francs, respectively. A panel of judges, including Michal Dzierza of Meehow Media and representatives of the IEC, will select the contest's first- and second-place winners; the third-place winner will be chosen based on public feedback.

To submit a video, visit the contest's official submission page. All submission must be received no later than Monday, September 1, 2014; the contest is open all members of the public, with the exception of current IEC employees.
