People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The IAPMO Group, a member and audited designator of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has hired Paul Bonsak as the managing director of IAPMO Oceana. He will lead the branch of IAPMO that certifies water and gas industry products for compliance with Australian and New Zealand codes and standards.

Prior to joining IAPMO, Mr. Bonsak was executive manager of Energy Safe Victoria's (ESV) gas installation and appliance safety division. He was a statutory authority ensuring the safety of systems in the plumbing industry, leading an ESV media campaign that led to a 20 percent reduction in death and injury in Victoria. He has 17 years of professional experience in the plumbing industry.

"Paul brings to IAPMO Oceana a perfect blend of industry, regulatory, and product certification leadership experience," said GP Russ Chaney, CEO of The IAPMO Group. "He is keenly aware of what the industry and regulatory bodies expect from a world class product certification agency, thus perfectly positioned to spearhead IAPMO Oceana's continued growth and success."

The Acoustical Society of America (ASA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that L. Keeta Jones is its new education and outreach coordinator.

In this role, Ms. Jones will work closely with the organization's Committee on Education in Acoustics to implement education and outreach initiatives. Ms. Jones will also serve as the liaison to coordinate education and outreach efforts by several ASA committees, the Student Council, and technical committees. Some of ASA's outreach activities include sessions designed for Girl Scout Troops, distribution of Teacher Activity Kits, and an acoustics graduate program database, among others.

Ms. Jones has a background in linguistics, and is working toward an M.A. in the field from The Ohio State University. She was a volunteer science demonstrator at the Center of Science and Industry Language Sciences Lab, where she was also an assistant in the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates program. She has a B.A. in German and Linguistics from the University of Toledo.
