ANSI's Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy Scott P. Cooper Announces Retirement

Candidate Search Now Underway for VP-Level Government and Public Policy Expert

Scott P. Cooper, vice president, government relations and public policy, at the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced his retirement, effective at the end of 2016. Mr. Cooper joined ANSI in 2007, and has served as spokesperson and liaison to federal, state, and local government agencies and to Congress and congressional staff.

In his role, Mr. Cooper supported the activities of the ANSI National Policy Committee and the ANSI Government Member Forum, and he worked with the members of the committees to develop and advance the Institute's crucial positions and policies at all levels of government. ANSI leadership and staff thank Mr. Cooper for his many contributions and wish him all the best as he begins the next chapter in his life.

As a result of Mr. Cooper's retirement, ANSI is actively seeking applicants for the position of vice president, government relations. The position, based in ANSI's headquarters in Washington, DC, requires maintaining effective liaison with federal agencies and with organizations that ANSI can partner with to achieve common objectives, as well as identifying business opportunities with such agencies and organizations. The vice president acts as key liaison to Congress, federal, and state legislative and executive agencies, and provides information regarding same to ANSI staff and volunteer leadership.

Applicants must be highly experienced at a senior management level and have a minimum of 10 years of experience and a proven record of success in these key areas of responsibility. Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
