People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

ASME, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Frank Giannelli as managing director of information technology. In this role, Mr. Giannelli will provide collaborative strategic vision and leadership to support ASME's business strategy, reporting to CFO Bill Garofalo.

Previously, Mr. Giannelli was the senior director of information and digital technology solutions for the United States Golf Association (USGA). There, he oversaw the establishment and ongoing management of the organization's technology strategy, platform, and investment portfolio. Mr. Giannelli has held senior leadership roles in highly regulated Fortune 100 global organizations, in industries including utilities, power generation, pharmaceuticals, financial services, consulting, and telecommunications, as well as sports and entertainment. He is experienced in technology strategy, enterprise architecture, applications development, infrastructure and operations, merger management, and consulting.

"Frank brings a wealth of IT experience and expertise at a pivotal point in ASME's development," said Mr. Garofalo. "With his help, we will foster even more engagement and collaboration with the global engineering community to benefit lives and livelihoods."

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), an ANSI member, has announced that Mark Buntz is its new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. He assumes this position following the retirement of Kathryn Kimmel, who spent 30 years with GIA.

Mr. Buntz has more than 20 years of experience in media, entertainment, and sports marketing. Prior to joining GIA, he was vice president of global brand marketing for TaylorMade Golf Company. He has held leadership positions at ESPN, NBCUniversal, Hulu, and other mass media and digital companies. Mr. Buntz brings with him expertise in global brand marketing, advertising, communications, sales, and broadcasting.

"Mark brings invaluable expertise with leading companies which have reached pinnacles of success in their fields," said Susan Jacques, GIA president and CEO. "He is a proven innovator and a passionate storyteller who, with his enthusiasm and new perspective, will help advance GIA's initiatives to connect with consumers and the gem and jewelry industry."
