What to Expect at World Standards Week 2016

WSW, which takes place this year on October 24-28 in Washington, DC, is an ANSI-hosted annual event designed to inspire open dialogue about developments and challenges related to standardization and conformity assessment, highlighted in multiple keynote speaker sessions and conferences.

The series of events brings together departmental and agency officials, industry leaders, consumer advocates, academics, and standardization executives from across the globe. Each year, WSW promotes open exchange among various types of standard-setting and conformity assessment/compliance organizations who are working in close partnership with government and industry in nearly every sector and product line.

ANSI's Leadership and Awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The ceremony recognizes the dedication, and vision of individuals who contribute to and participate in the U.S. and global voluntary standards-setting and conformity assessment activities [see 2015 winners here].

The U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day (WSD), an event intended to raise awareness of the importance of global standardization to the world economy and to promote its role in helping meet the needs of business, industry, government, and consumers worldwide, will be held on Thursday, October 27. WSD is a joint effort between the private and public sector. ANSI and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) are co-chairs of the U.S. Celebration of WSD Committee; ASTM International will serve as Administrating Organization for the 2016 event. [see 2015 WSD information here].

The full schedule of events is available on www.ansi.org/wsweek.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available at a variety of levels for companies and organizations wishing to show their valuable support for the voluntary standardization community.
