CEA's Innovation Movement Surpasses 200,000 Members
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and accredited standards developer the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced that more than 200,000 people have joined its grassroots Innovation Movement in support of technology and innovation.
More than 5,300 members signed on to the Movement's "Declaration of Innovation" at the recent 2012 International CES - the world's largest technology tradeshow. [see related news item]
CEA's Innovation Movement is committed to placing innovation at the center of America's economic policy. CEA provides its Innovation Movement members with tools to contact their members of Congress - via email, Facebook, or Twitter - to support policies that encourage and advance American innovation and shore up our economy for future generations.
"CEA launched the Innovation Movement to create an engaged community of Americans who believe innovation is critical to our nation's global leadership and economic growth," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. "The attendees, exhibitors, CEOs, and celebrities who declared innovation at CES are sending a message to policy makers that now is the time to stand up for innovation."

USGBC Announces Top 10 States for LEED Green Buildings
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, recently released its 2011 list of top 10 states for LEED-certified commercial and institutional green buildings per capita. Based on 2010 U.S. Census information, the District of Columbia leads the nation with more than 31 square feet of LEED-certified space per person in 2011; Colorado is the nation's leading state, with 2.74 square feet per person in 2011. Other top states include Illinois, Virginia, Washington, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, California, New York, and Minnesota.
"Looking past the bricks and mortar, people are at the heart of what buildings are all about," said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, USGBC. "Examining the per capita value of LEED square footage in these states allows us to focus on what matters most - the human element of green buildings."
Celebrating the 61st Anniversary of National Engineers Week, February 19-25

NAM Manufacturing Summit Scheduled for June 6-7

The future of industrial data will be the topic of discussion at the November 12-16, 2012, meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 184, Subcommittee (SC) 4, Automation Systems- Industrial Data, meeting in Miami.
ISO TC 184 covers standardization in the field of automation systems and their integration for design, sourcing, manufacturing and delivery, support, maintenance, and disposal of products and their associated services. Areas of standardization include information systems, robotics, automation and control software, and integration technologies. Specifically, subcommittee (SC) 4 is focused on standards for industrial data.
