People on the Move

1/06/2017

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The Vision Council, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has promoted Greg Chavez to the position of executive vice president, operations and membership.

Mr. Chavez joined The Vision Council in 2003 as director of member services, rising to the position of vice president of member services in 2006. He has facilitated the organization's growth from 80 to over 750 member companies, and oversaw the membership integration of six organizational mergers. He also played a key role in industry-wide standards development programs and evolved The Vision Council's market research programs.

"Greg has worked tirelessly on behalf of The Vision Council's members over the past 13 years, ensuring that our organization listens to the needs of the industry and responds in-kind with the best possible resources for member companies," said Ashley Mills, The Vision Council's CEO. "Greg's new role reflects the importance that we place on our members and member services, and allows us to identify operational efficiencies to create increased value for members."

The Portland Cement Association (PCA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, announced an addition and promotions in their government affairs department.

Rachel Derby is PCA's vice president of government affairs, focusing on legislative relationships and advocacy. Previously, Ms. Derby was with the Toy Industry Association (TIA) as senior director of federal affairs. There, she oversaw the organization's strategies on environmental sustainability, chemical regulations, and social responsibility, and led outreach with regulatory agencies.

"We are very pleased to have Rachel join PCA," said James G. Toscas, PCA president and CEO. "The addition of her considerable talent and experience is a significant step in the reorganization of the association's advocacy team, following the recent addition of Michael Schon as vice president and counsel in charge of regulatory issues. Our objective is to build a top-flight team in Washington to serve as the voice of the cement and concrete industry."

PCA also announced that Todd Johnston has been promoted to executive vice president of government affairs. He will oversee all of PCA's government affairs operations at both the federal and state levels.

Additionally, Collin Long has been promoted to senior director of government affairs. He will continue his work in representing industry interests and fostering relationships in the legislative arena, among other areas.
