X9 to Sponsor Conference Call Presentation on External Processing Codes for Remotely Created Checks
Accredited Standards Committee X9, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, along with ECCHO Inc. and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, is sponsoring a dial-in presentation: External Processing Codes (EPC) for Remotely Created Checks (RCC). Attendees will learn about a new EPC that is used to define RCCs as in X9.100-160-2013 Part 2, developed by X9.
The presentation, scheduled for October 1, 2015, at 1:00 pm EDT, will identify how the EPC can be used to track RCCs, as well as how it can assist in detecting fraud. Attendees will be able to ask questions, and the presentation qualifies for National Check Professional (NCP) credits from ECCHO.

GreenBiz to Host Webinar on the Benefits of SASB Standards for 2016 Reporting
GreenBiz will hold a webinar on how Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards can jumpstart 2016 reporting. The presentation will be held on September 17, 2015, at 1:00 pm EDT.
SASB, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, develops industry-specific sustainability accounting standards. Webinar attendees will learn about investor interest in environmental, social, and governance disclosures, and presenters will discuss how SASB standards can be used to satisfy investors and improve internal management.

TIA Releases Top Picks of "Smart" Toys for Back-to-School Season
The Toy Industry Association (TIA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published a list of selected toys that are educational and STEM-based, stimulating kids' brain development.
"Toys and games are fantastic for bringing children back into focus after summer vacation," said Adrienne Appell, TIA trend expert. "From classic favorites like puzzles and construction sets to brand-new playthings infused with cutting-edge technology, there is a huge variety of toys on the market that enhance creativity, sharpen memory and retention, and build strategic thinking skills."
Suggested toys include Painting Lulu, an activity book that allows children to color a picture by hand, then scan the picture, upload it onto a smart device, and continue coloring digitally. Another toy on the list, FrankenWords, prompts kids to combine two words to create new meanings and compound words.

American Academy of Forensic Sciences Applies for ANSI Accredited Standards Developer Status
The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), a new ANSI organizational member in 2015, has submitted an application for accreditation as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer (SDO) and proposed operating procedures for documenting AAFS-sponsored ANS. AARS's proposed scope of standards activity is specific standardization needs of the national and international forensic communities that augment standards promulgated through existing accredited Standards Developing Organizations.
