The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is pleased to announce new sponsorship opportunities for the ANSI Network on Smart and Sustainable Cities (ANSSC).
The ANSSC is a forum for information sharing and coordination on voluntary standards, conformity assessment, and related activities for smart and sustainable cities in the United States and abroad. Local governments and others involved in sustainable urban infrastructure planning and development can engage with ANSI, learn about relevant work, and articulate their issues and needs in the ANSSC. The network raises awareness of initiatives both inside and outside of the formal standards process, including rating and assessment systems, frameworks, and guidance documents. Monthly webinars feature a guest speaker with discussion of a particular activity, followed by open information sharing among all participants.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at various levels providing a means to reach a highly targeted audience interested in smart and sustainable cities initiatives. With benefits including recognition during webinars, on web properties, and in promotional materials, sponsorship demonstrates a public commitment to smart growth, sustainable development, and resilience. The ANSSC network of potential business partners includes companies, industry trade associations, professional societies, NGOs, government agencies, and academia, among others.
ANSI is also pleased to announce that participation in the ANSSC is a benefit of membership for ANSI full members in 2015. ANSI basic members and non-members will pay nominal participation fees.

The ANSSC was created because of increasing activity in international standards bodies to define needed standards for smart and sustainable cities and as a way to help foster coordinated U.S. engagement in this work. Navigant Research predicts that "smart city technology revenue will grow from $8.8 billion worldwide this year to $27.5 billion in 2023 as more cities around the globe adopt smart city technologies to meet sustainability goals, boost local economies, and improve services."
