A planned workshop focused on Arbitration of RAND Disputes that was scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, has been canceled in advance of a major snowstorm that is expected to hit the Washington, DC, area on that date. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) regrets the inconvenience. The event was organized to promote discussion and consideration regarding issues connected to the licensing of standard-essential patents (SEPs) on reasonable and non-discriminatory (RAND) terms, as well as the benefits and potential downsides associated with the use of arbitration to resolve RAND-related disputes [see related story]. The workshop is expected to be rescheduled; details will be forthcoming.
