Attention ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and ISO/IEC

12/09/2019

Due January 31, 2020

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and its Procedures and Standards Administration (PSA) department remind all ANSI-Accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) administrators to the International Organization for Standardization that a response to the recently distributed e-mail with the 2020 Procedural Compliance Form/2019 TAG Annual Report Notice must be returned no later than January 31, 2020, to the ANSI PSA department ([email protected]).

TAG Administrators requiring additional time to respond should send an extension request to [email protected]; failure to submit by the deadline may jeopardize the TAG's accreditation status and the organization's status as the related ANSI- Accredited U.S. TAG Administrator. TAGs that are not separately accredited are not required to submit their own TAG compliance form or annual report.

A complete list of ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and ISO/IEC can be accessed at www.ansi.org/isotags.

"By seeking and maintaining ANSI-accredited status, an organization chooses to publicly commit to an open, equitable, and accessible consensus process that ensures due process and benefits the public interest," explained Anne Caldas, ANSI senior director, procedures and standards administration. "The 2020 ISO TAG Annual Compliance Form E-mail is combined with the 2019 TAG Annual Reporting format to facilitate the annual compliance notification process and the ISO and ISO/IEC TAG Annual Report submission."

Webinar Registration:

ANSI invites relevant parties to register for a January 15 webinar, during which ANSI will review the ANSI International Procedures and related forms. The latest edition of the ANSI International Procedures is available at www.ansi.org/internationalprocedures. No changes were made to the 2019 edition, which remains in effect in 2020.

2020 Procedural Compliance E-mail (Part 1)

Before submitting the 2020ISO and ISO/IEC TAG Procedural Compliance E-mail (Part 1), ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAG Administrators to ISO and ISO/IEC TAGs should read the 2019 edition of the ANSI International Procedures to ensure familiarity with ANSI's procedural requirements. Please note that Annex B of the ANSI International Procedures applies to all ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs.

ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAG Administrators to ISO and ISO/IEC TAGs that are accredited to use Annex A (model TAG procedures) must rely on and operate in compliance with the 2019 edition of the ANSI International Procedures, including Annexes A and B contained therein.

ISO and ISO/IEC TAGs that are accredited to use unique procedures (i.e., other than Annex A of the ANSI International Procedures) must review, and if necessary, revise their procedures, to ensure that they are compliant with the main text of the 2019 edition of the ANSI International Procedures and Annex B.

If a TAG wishes to revise its procedures in any way and at any time, then those revisions must be submitted for review and reaccreditation by the ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC). Revised procedures are to be submitted to [email protected] in strike-through-underline format and accompanied by a summary of the changes.

2019 TAG Annual Report Form
The TAG Annual Report Form is Part 2 of the Compliance E-mail that was issued to each TAG Administrator of an ANSI-Accredited US TAG to ISO or ISO/IEC.

The Annual Reporting requirements contained in ANSI International Procedures are excerpted, in part, below:

2.5.5.2 Annual Reporting
Each U.S. TAG Administrator shall submit to ANSI a completed TAG Annual Compliance Form. In addition, an annual report shall be prepared by each U.S. TAG Administrator, describing in summary narrative form the U.S. TAG activity during the past year. The report shall be submitted to the ExSC or its designee no later than January 31 of the following year.

Return of Compliance Email

Please remember that all ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and ISO/IEC must complete and submit the 2020 Compliance Form and a 2019 TAG Annual Report by January 31, 2020, to [email protected], along with the current TAG membership roster (with details as specified in the International Procedures). Extension requests and questions may be directed to [email protected].

An acknowledgement email will be sent to each submitter within two weeks of receipt by ANSI; please keep a copy of the submittal and the related receipt for your records.

The ANSI Executive Standards Council (ExSC) wishes to thank all ANSI-Accredited US TAG Administrators to ISO and ISO/IEC activities for their efforts throughout the year to ensure that the U.S. has a strong and effective voice in International Standardization activities.
