As we near the midpoint of the year, ANSI wishes to remind and encourage its members and constituents to participate in the following activities, noting their respective deadlines:

National Standards Strategy Committee – Nominations for Subgroups (June 18, 2004)
The committee undertaking the revision of the National Standards Strategy for the United States (NSSC) has issued an invitation for organizations to become involved directly in the NSS revision process through participation in one or more of four subgroups created to advance particular aspects of the project. Chaired by NSSC members, the subgroups are intended to represent a broad cross-section of interests from the standardization community.

  • NSSC SG 1 – National Priorities and Processes - Public/Private Sector Cooperation
  • NSSC SG 2 – International
  • NSSC SG 3 – Education and Communication
  • NSSC SG 4 – Funding the Standards System, Intellectual Property Rights and Patents

Organizations interested in having a representative serve on an NSSC subgroup may contact Joseph Tretler, Jr. (212.642.4977; jtretler@ansi.org) at ANSI no later than Friday, June 18, 2004.

2nd Quarter New Member Referral Incentive Promotion (June 30, 2004)
ANSI’s Member Referral program encourages ANSI members to identify to ANSI’s membership team a colleague, customer, vendor, peer or friend they feel would benefit from membership in the Institute. Each prospect identified is contacted with information about the Institute and the value of ANSI membership.

As an incentive for participation, each referral submitted qualifies the referring ANSI member for an entry into a drawing for a $250 Amazon.com gift certificate. The next drawing will be held June 30, 2004; the winner will be identified on ANSI Online and will receive their certificate by mail.

The competition is open to teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students attending U.S. colleges, universities and other post-secondary educational institutions.

As a P3 partner, ANSI will be developing an online "Standards Resource Guide" for use by the student design teams.
