Reminder: Nominations for 2008 ANSI Board of Directors and Institute Policy Committees due June 11, 2007

New York, Jun 01, 2007

Members of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) are reminded of the invitation to participate in the annual recommendation of qualified candidates for the ANSI Board of Directors and for membership on the Institute’s Policy Committees. Nominations are for terms beginning January 1, 2008.

To assist in the nomination process, the ANSI Board has created nomination guidelines to target sectors that may currently be underrepresented within the Federation, ensure balance and diversity within the membership, enhance ANSI’s relationships and networks, and highlight individual personal attributes. Nomination forms and guidelines, along with the recently approved ANSI Code of Ethics, policy committee appointment practices, and general information are available in the ANSI Online Library.

Nominations must be received no later than Monday, June 11, 2007.

A biographical statement and letter of corporate support are required for all nominations for the Board and voting membership on a Policy Committee (note: letter of corporate support is not required of individual and government members). A single nomination form per ANSI member organization is requested.

All candidates for the Board of Directors will be referred to the Board Nominating Committee and subsequently balloted for election by the ANSI membership. Responsibilities of the Board include the approval of such fundamental issues as the strategic direction of the Institute, the annual budget, and the scope of responsibilities of the Board and Institute Committees, Councils and Boards. Voting membership in the Institute Policy Committees is limited to approximately thirty persons appointed by the Chairman of the Board and approved by the Executive Committee of the Board from among nominated, eligible candidates.

Nomination forms may be submitted through Monday, June 11, 2007, via e-mail (; fax (212.840.2298 or 212.398.0023); or online through the ANSI survey bank. Alternatively, nominations may also be mailed to:
