ANSI's Senior Director of Credentialing Programs to Speak at Event on World Day for Safety and Health at Work

4/28/2017

Board of Certified Safety Professionals event to highlight ANSI accreditation

Vijay Krishna, Ph.D., senior director, credentialing programs, at the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), will speak at the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) building dedication for its new Indianapolis headquarters. The dedication will take place on the International Labour Organization's (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work, on April 28, 2017.

The event will focus on the importance of certification to the safety profession, and BCSP's early adoption of ANSI accreditation, the importance of safety to the state of Indiana, and certified safety professionals' contributions to the community.

BCSP, an internationally recognized provider of certification for safety practitioners, chose the event date as an organization in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Through this status, BCSP supports the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Goal 8 of which provides for the promotion of "inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all."

Furthermore, and also in support of sustainability efforts, the company's commemoration on April 28 is on 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which underscores the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data.

"Accredited safety certifications sustain economic growth by proving the value of safety professionals who are skilled in minimizing risk, ensuring incident-free operations, and protecting the well-being of workers, their families, and the community," explained BCSP CEO Dr. Treasa Turnbeaugh in a company release. "Safety professionals are integral members of any team."

Dr. Krishna will join fellow expert speakers Chris Patton, BCSP board president; Timothy Maley, Indiana Deputy Commissioner of Labor; Rick Ruble, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Labor; and Angela Smith Jones, deputy mayor of economic development.
