NFPA Webinar to Cover Oxygen Reduction in Warehouses
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, will hold a free webinar next month: "Oxygen Reduction Systems for Warehouse Storage Applications."
The presentation will provide an overview of oxygen reduction (or hypoxic) systems that are used in warehouse facilities as an alternative to sprinkler protection. Attendees will learn about the current state of oxygen reduction system design and testing, including two currently-available test methods and concerns about these methods.
The webinar will be held on February 7 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. It is recommended for facility managers, researchers, engineers, fire protection engineers, building officials, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).

ICC to Hold Two Free Webinars
The International Code Council (ICC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that it will hold two free webinars on January 9.
"ICC Online Library Review" will introduce the features of ICC's digital library, including model I-codes and standards that are freely available as a service to the public, as well as its digital code platform, print books, and PDF versions of print books. The one-hour webinar will be held on January 9 at 12:00 p.m.
"Residential Building Inspector Webinar Series: Administration and Adoption" is part of the organization's series of presentations on the International Residential Code (IRC). Attendees will learn the basics of the IRC, allowing them to apply it in specific situations and understand the intent of the code when making a judgement on code compliance. This webinar will cover Chapter 1 of the code. It will be held on January 9 from 12:00-1:30 p.m.

INMM Reviews Books Related to Nuclear Materials, Weapons, Disaster
The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, publishes book reviews on publications of interest to their stakeholders in each issue of the Journal of Nuclear Materials Management.
The reviews, which are written for books published within the past two years, offer summaries and opinions on books ranging in scope from personal accounts of the aftermath of nuclear war to introductions to nuclear forensics. Recently reviewed titles include The North Korean Nuclear Weapons Crisis, by Jina Kim; Nagasaki: Life After Nuclear War, by Susan Southard; and A History of U.S. Nuclear Testing and Its Influence on Nuclear Thought, 1945-1963, by David M. Blades and Joseph M. Siracusa.

IEEE Counts the Greatest Gadgets of the Past 50 Years
IEEE, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published its Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame with their choices of the "greatest gizmos" of the past 50 years.
Each gadget chosen is accompanied by a picture and information on the technology, the history behind it, and its features and its uses. From the Electrolert Fuzzbuster Radar Detector of 1968, to the Motorola Advisor Pager of 1990, to the Apple Watch of 2015, these devices are remembered for their impact and how they paved the way for future technologies.
