The
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) wishes to remind its members of the invitation to
participate in a survey seeking input on ANSI member priorities in India and other regions. To accommodate additional responses, the survey deadline has been extended to
Friday, August 19. | | U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program One of the fastest growing countries in the world, India has become an important economic ally for the United States. In 2009, ANSI launched the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP) in cooperation with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to engender cooperation on standards and conformance issues and improve access for U.S. companies to the Indian market. A series of SCCP sector-specific workshops have addressed fire safety in tall buildings, the safe storage of liquefied natural gas, aerospace, and biometrics. As part of the SCCP, ANSI launched the U.S. Standards Directory earlier this year at a February 8 summit in New Delhi. [See related news item] The directory offers a clearinghouse of standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment information used in the U.S. to drive five key industry sectors, and is intended to help industry and policy-makers increase transparency and reduce duplication in standards and regulatory requirements. | |
Feedback from the survey will help the Institute to identify future program areas for India, and to prioritize standards-related activities in other countries and regions around the globe.
The twenty-question survey seeks to gauge ANSI member interest in standardization activities in India over the next three to five years, and to identify ways that ANSI can add value to ANSI member objectives in India.
To help ANSI prioritize and focus standards-related activities regionally and internationally, the survey also asks organizations to indicate their interest level in ANSI engagement in China, Japan and Korea, Southeast Asia, the European Union, the Russian Federation, the Middle East and North Africa, Brazil, and the Americas.
