On March 27, the Association of Climate Change Officers (ACCO) will hold a webinar on the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Superior Energy Performance (SEP) program: Driving Energy Efficiency & Productivity. The SEP program is intended to drive systematic energy performance improvement across the U.S. manufacturing sector and significantly reduce energy use and carbon emissions nationwide. The program provides industrial facilities with a roadmap for achieving ongoing energy performance gains without sacrificing financial competitiveness.
To earn certification to SEP, facilities must demonstrate via audits that they meet the requirements of the ISO 50001, Energy Management, standard and have reached prescribed benchmarks in improved energy performance. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board are recognized by the DoE as the third-party accreditors for certification bodies that conduct SEP audits [see related article].
Webinar participants will get an overview of the SEP program from Paul Scheihing, technology manager, Advanced Manufacturing Office, DOE, and hear perspectives from leaders at Harbec and Cummins - two organizations that have achieved SEP certification at their facilities. ACCO's Knowledge Center program manager, Phil Santiago, will moderate the discussions.
