People on the Move

8/22/2014
People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA), an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and accredited standards developer formerly known as the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA), named John Haudenshield as the association's new director of safety. Mr. Haudenshield will oversee the expansion of the group's existing safety program and is expected to work closely with sector stakeholders to address industry safety-related concerns.

Mr. Haudenshield served as safety and risk manager for Diageo; safety and loss prevention manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated; safety, training, and loss prevention manager for Unique Industries; and environmental, health, and safety manager for Cycle Systems. He received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Virginia's James Madison University.

NWRA is a nonprofit organization representing U.S. waste and recycling companies involved in the collection of waste, recyclables, organics, and composting, and the production of waste-based energy. The association provides leadership, advocacy, research, education, and safety expertise to the waste and recycling industries while promoting economically sustainable and environmentally sound services.

The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, recently announced the hiring of John Sheerin as its new director, end of life tires. Mr. Sheerin will replace Michael Blumenthal, who is retiring from the position.

Prior to joining RMA, Mr. Sheerin served as retail environmental director at Bridgestone Retail Operations, where he also previously worked as an environmental manager. In addition, he worked as a senior project engineer at Environmental Resources Management, and as an environmental engineer with Eichleay Engineers. Mr. Sheerin received his BSCE degree and his master of science in environmental engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and his law degree in environmental law and engineering from IIT's Chicago Kent School of Law.

RMA, founded in 1916 as the Rubber Club of America, is a membership organization representing manufacturers producing tires in the United States. The association develops safety standards for truck tires, advocates for a competitive tire industry and environmentally responsible tire manufacturing, and works to educated automotive service workers about the proper care and service of rubber automotive tires, among other efforts.
