Dutch Business School Wins ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has announced that the Rotterdam School of Management, part of Erasmus University in the Netherlands, is the winner of this year's ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization.

The award, created in 2006, recognizes successful programs in higher education on standardization. The Rotterdam School of Management was chosen for its integrated approach that combines self-learning and lectures; the diversity of the pedagogical tools developed and used for the program, with a particular emphasis on research and business relevance; and the emphasis placed on practical experience, among other reasons.

IEEE to Celebrate 125th Anniversary in South Africa
The IEEE will mark 125 years of innovation and ingenuity with an anniversary celebration this October in Johannesburg, South Africa. On October 23, 2009, members and stakeholders of the organization will gather for presentations, dinner, and networking.

The event will feature a presentation by guest speaker Larry Chasteen of the University of Texas at Dallas. Mr. Chasteen will address missile defense and early warning radars.

Tenth Anniversary of CIPM MRA To Be Celebrated in Paris
Government officials and other interested stakeholders will gather in Paris on October 8-9, 2009, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).

The CIPM MRA was signed in October 1999 by the directors of 38 national metrology institutes and representatives of two international organizations. Participation since then has risen to nearly 200 such institutes. The MRA has made a major contribution to improving the world metrology system, achieving one of its original objectives to reduce technical barriers to trade.

IAF and ISO Release Joint Communiqués on Expected Outcomes for Accredited Certification
The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and ISO have released two joint Communiqués that provide expected of accredited certification to ISO 9001, Quality management, and ISO 14001, Environmental management.

These statements promote a shared focus throughout the entire conformity assessment chain, facilitating the expected outcomes and enhancing the value and relevance of accredited certification.

ASABE To Offer Free Webinar Series on PE Exam in Agricultural Engineering
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) is offering a new webinar series designed to help listeners prepare for the Principles and Practice (PE) Exam in Agricultural Engineering in the US.

Produced by the society’s Professional Engineers Institute, the two-hour webinars will be presented by instructors from across the United States. Each segment will focus on one topic, collectively providing basic refreshers on the range of topics addressed by the exam. Attendees will review fundamental principles and see example applications demonstrated in problems similar to those that might appear on the exam.
