February ANSI Caucus to Focus on the President’s Hydrogen Fuel Initiative

Washington, DC, Feb 01, 2008

On Friday, February 8, the ANSI Caucus will feature Jo Ann Milliken, Hydrogen Program Manager at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

During her presentation, Ms. Milliken will discuss the President's Hydrogen Fuel Initiative, which aims to reduce oil use and carbon emissions through the development and implementation of hydrogen production, storage, and fuel cell systems. She will identify the energy drivers (reduced oil use and carbon emissions), the policy drivers (EPACT, EISA, Executive Order), the challenges (technical and institutional), and what DOE is doing to address the challenges – including those activities related to codes and standards.

At DOE, Ms. Milliken is responsible for directing research, development, demonstration, and deployment activities in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. She began her career as a Research Scientist with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, and later as a Program Manager at the Office of Naval Research. She has been with DOE since 1994.

Ms. Milliken received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from LaSalle University and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia, PA.

The February Caucus event is sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.

The Caucus will be held on Friday, February 8; general networking will begin at 12:00 p.m. and lunch will be served promptly at 12:30 p.m. The National Press Club is located at 529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor (Zenger Room).
