ANSI Joint Member Forum to Address Consumer Product Safety

New York, Oct 08, 2007

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced a meeting of its Joint Member Forum (JMF) on October 18, 2007, to address consumer product safety issues. Building upon the Institute’s recent Building Consumer Confidence conference, this meeting of the JMF will engage the entire ANSI Federation in a discussion of consumer product safety issues, as well as the development of actions to be taken by the standards and conformity assessment community.

During an open discussion period, participants will examine the short-term and long-term actions that were identified during Building Consumer Confidence, including the importance of supply chain education and the third-party verification system that has been recommended to the Interagency Working Group on Import Safety. Some of the topics addressed during the meeting will be referred to the respective member forums for a more detailed discussion later in the day.

ANSI members received today a meeting notice, including links to the agenda and registration information. Those who plan to attend their respective forum meeting on either Wednesday, October 17, or Thursday, October 18, should also plan on attending the JMF.

Part of the World Standards Week 2007 series of events, the JMF meeting will take place at the Fairmont Washington in Washington, DC. For more information or to register for this and other World Standards Week events, visit http://www.ansi.org/wsweek.
