The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recently organized the twelfth workshop under the U.S-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCCP), an initiative sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). The program calls on ANSI to organize 20 workshops over three years, covering a wide range of sectors and issues related to standards and conformity assessment.
On January 30, ANSI, the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program (ECP), and China's Ministry of Environmental Protection Appraisal Center for Environment and Engineering, organized the Workshop on Environment Protection in Shale Gas Development in Beijing, China. The event included sessions on environmental management and supervision systems, the current status of environmental impact assessment and challenges in China, and an overview of U.S. federal and state shale gas environmental regulations, among other topics. The seminar provided an opportunity for U.S. and Chinese experts to exchange technical information. Attendees included representatives from U.S. and Chinese government agencies and private sector participation from both sides, notably from the two main Chinese shale gas project owners and some of the largest oil and natural gas Chinese companies.

The U.S.-China Decentralized Energy and Combined Heating Power (DECHP) Workshop will take place on May 18 in Taiyuan City. ANSI is collaborating with the U.S.-China ECP to organize this workshop.
The Sino-U.S. Workshop on Electric Vehicle Standardization will take place on June 9-10, 2015, in Beijing. The workshop was first announced at the 2014 U.S.-China Innovation Dialogue, which named ANSI's Electric Vehicle Standards Panel and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) as planning partners. The event is an opportunity to build on the exchange that took place during the July 2012 Sino-U.S. Workshop on New Energy Standardization, which ANSI and the China Association for Standardization (CAS) successfully organized in Beijing.
