ISO To Hold Workshop on Guidelines for Sustainable Business Districts

Workshop will kick off development of related International Workshop Agreement

New York, Nov 16, 2009

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) would like to inform all interested stakeholders of an upcoming workshop being held by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on sustainable business districts. The event will be held January 28-29, 2010, in Paris.

The workshop is intended to kick off the development of an International Workshop Agreement (IWA) to provide principles of sustainable development for business districts, including a framework to establish a core set of indicators and a performance assessment methodology, as well as a guide of best practices.

ISO has released several relevant documents for stakeholders interested in participating in the workshop. Topics included for further discussion in the workshop guideline include:

  • Definition of “business district”

  • Sustainable construction during the whole life cycle

  • Energy management

  • Urban management: transport, security, mixed-use planning, and quality of life

The event will be held in Paris La Défense, France. The Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR) is acting as the secretary of the workshop.
