New ISO Committee to Develop Standards Related to Brand Evaluation

2/13/2014

ANSI Seeking Participants for Possible U.S. Technical Advisory Group

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recently announced the establishment of a new technical committee (TC) focused on standardization activities related to brand evaluation. The Standardization Administration of China (SAC), the Chinese member body to ISO, has been assigned the secretariat of the new TC; no chair has yet been announced for the committee.

This new committee, ISO TC 289, Brand evaluation, will operate with a scope centered on the standardization of brand evaluation. These efforts will focus on brand-associated terms and definitions, methods and guidelines for brand evaluation, and standardization work in other relevant fields, among other topics.

ISO TC 289 currently has eight participating member nations and 24 observing member nations, including the United States. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is reaching out to all interested stakeholders to determine if there is sufficient interest to justify forming a U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 289. All interested participants are invited to contact Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy, via email at [email protected].
