People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced two additions to their team.

Mahender Singh has joined the organization as director, IFMA India. In this role, he will lend his expertise to promote the expansion of India's facility management (FM) market, which has been growing rapidly since 2003, and to build IFMA's membership portfolio.

Mr. Singh has over 25 years of experience in facilities, corporate real estate, facilities operations, turn around management, business development, finance, and general administration, with end-to-end real estate services experience that will be integral in his support for India's FM industry.

"IFMA is committed to the development and support of a truly global FM community," said IFMA chief operations officer John Perry. "The emergence of India on the global stage is one of the most important trends of the twenty first century and as its cities are developed and its built environment modernizes, the benefit of sound FM practices will be more important for India than ever. Mahender Singh understands the role FM must play in India's future, and he understands the business realities of real estate. He will be an invaluable resource both for FM professionals working in India and for IFMA."

IFMA also announced the addition of Lara Paemen as director, IFMA Europe. She will focus on furthering the development of services and products for IFMA's membership in Europe, one of the most mature FM markets in the world.

Ms. Paemen brings with her many years of expertise in workplace strategy, business, and business consulting, with experience in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. She has a progressive vision that will guide the European FM market in shaping the emerging global FM community.

"IFMA is uniquely positioned to provide global support for FM professionals in Europe," said IFMA president and CEO Tony Keane. "As the FM industry works together to build the foundation for global FM standards, Europe will continue to play a significant role. Lara has the skill and experience to support that effort, working with IFMA's European chapters and chapter leaders to leverage the value of the world's largest FM professional association."
