10/05/2018

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

NEMA, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Philip Squair as vice president of government relations. In this role, Mr. Squair will lead the organization's advocacy and lobbying initiatives.

Mr. Squair has previously worked with the U.S. House of Representatives and the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer. His lobbying efforts for the propane gas industry have resulted in the enactment of several federal laws, including the Propane Education and Research Enhancement Act of 2014, the Home Heating Emergency Assistance Through Transportation Act of 2014, and the Reliable Home Heating Act of 2014.

"Philip is a highly accomplished senior executive, and his experience in adjacent industries brings an invaluable perspective and sophisticated skills to advocate on behalf of electrical and medical imaging manufacturers," said NEMA president and CEO Kevin Cosgriff. "We are very enthusiastic about him joining our team."

The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Sean Moore is its new director, government affairs. He will guide strategy for USTMA's federal government affairs program and work with member companies and allied organizations on state advocacy efforts.

Prior to joining USTMA, Mr. Moore was the director of state and local government affairs for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, where he implemented the organization's advocacy agenda across the country. He has also worked for the Consumer Specialty Products Association (now the Household and Commercial Products Association), directing government affairs in 24 states and overseeing their Industrial and Automotive Products Division.

"Sean is an accomplished leader with extensive experience running successful industry government affairs programs and will be a valuable asset to our strong USTMA team. Under Sean's direction, the USTMA will continue to advocate for improved tire safety performance, champion the industry's domestic economic contributions, promote policies to develop and incentivize scrap tire markets, and lead efforts to enact unsafe used tire legislation," said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA president and CEO.
