McKiel to Provide Update of EPA Activities at May Meeting of ANSI Caucus

Washington, DC, Apr 21, 2005

On Friday, May 6, 2005, the ANSI Caucus will feature Dr. Mary McKiel, Standards Executive at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dr. McKiel has been with EPA since 1993 and has served as its standards executive since 1998. Her responsibilities include direction of EPA's implementation of the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act (P.L. 104-113) and OMB Circular A-119; she also sets standards policies and guidance for the agency. Dr. McKiel will provide an update of recent EPA activities to caucus attendees.

Currently a vice-chairman of the ANSI Board of Directors, Dr. McKiel, will also share with the group her views on the government's role in standardization, particularly as reflected in the current draft of the U.S. Standards Strategy.
