People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has hired Daniel Faoro as its new vice president for membership services and business development. In this position, Mr. Faoro will oversee the association's marketing and revenue creation activities, as well as its membership outreach.

Prior to joining AIA, Mr. Faoro worked as vice president and assistant to the president at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and as the vice president of marketing and communications for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. He has also served as director of communications for the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Mr. Faoro received his bachelor of arts degree from Virginia's George Mason University.

AIA is a non-profit organization comprised of aerospace and defense companies, suppliers, and manufacturers. AIA membership includes manufacturers and suppliers of civil, military, and business aircraft, helicopters, space systems, aircraft engines, missiles, materiel and related components, equipment, services, and information technology.


ANSI member TUV Rheinland recently named David Haataja as its senior vice president, products, for North America. Mr. Haataja is expected to oversee the organization's efforts to bolster new business development and enhance operations in the region, among other duties.

Mr. Haataja previously worked as CEO and executive director at ANSI member the Water Quality Association and vice president, operations, at ANSI member and audited designator UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.), among many other positions. He received his associate in applied science degree in electrical and electrical mechanical engineering technology from Michigan Technical University, his bachelor of science degree from University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and his MBA from DeVry University's Keller Graduate School of Management.

TUV Rheinland carries out inspections of technical equipment, products and services and operates 500 locations in 66 countries worldwide. The organization, which was founded in 1872, is widely seen as an international exemplar in testing, inspection, certification, quality assurance, and safety in connection with technical equipment.
