People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed David Long as CEO. Mr. Long assumed the position on April 1.

Mr. Long has more than 40 years of experience in electrical contracting. Prior to joining the association, he was president of Miller Electric. He has held many roles within NECA over the years, most recently serving as president. He has also sat on the organization's Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and Council of Industrial Relations. Mr. Long's expertise lies in strategic planning and organizational growth, as well as team leadership and mentorship.

"After a national search, the Executive Committee unanimously selected David Long to serve as CEO," said Larry Beltramo, chair of the NECA Search Committee and vice president at large. "David's experience as an electrical contractor, his recent service as NECA President, and his unending dedication to advancing our industry make him the ideal leader for NECA at this important moment in time."

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has named Chris Ballman its new director of professional development. In this role, Mr. Ballman will oversee ASSP's educational offerings, and provide leadership oversight for the organization's annual Professional Development Conference and Exhibition.

Mr. Ballman comes to ASSP from SmithBucklin, an association management and services company, where he was senior director of education and learning services for six years. He has also served as a training specialist and senior career consultant for Colorado Technical University. Mr. Ballman's experience includes leading teams that help organizations create and deliver educational content, and leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of online and in-person programs for adult learners.

"We're thrilled to have Chris on board because his experience and abilities will help strengthen ASSP's position as a global leader in professional development," said ASSP CEO Jennifer McNelly. "We know Chris can hit the ground running and make a positive impact from the start."
