AIF Announces Appointment of New Chair

New York, Apr 12, 2006

Karen Boehme of the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) has been appointed as chair of the ANSI ISO Forum (AIF). A cross-sector group, the AIF is responsible for developing the U.S. position on the technical and procedural issues of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Management Board (TMB). Included in the AIF’s jurisdiction are matters pertaining to standards development procedures, proposals for new fields of standardization, and the delegation of ISO committee secretariats.

As the NFPA’s international standards development manager, Ms. Boehme has been responsible for overseeing the development and administration of international fluid power standards since 1985. She has served as secretary of the ISO Technical Committee (TC) 131 on fluid power since 1988, and played an instrumental role in advancing the committee’s efforts. In addition, Ms. Boehme serves as administrator of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 131 and its various subcommittees. She has been an active member of the AIF for many years.

Ms. Boehme succeeds David Miller of the American Petroleum Institute, who has assumed the chairmanship of ANSI’s Regional Standing Committee for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (RSC-EMEA).
