November ANSI Caucus will feature USTR Speaker

On Friday, November 4, 2005, the ANSI Caucus will feature Mr. James Sanford, Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). Mr. Sanford will update the group on discussions of Technical Barriers to Trade/regulatory issues with European counterparts.

Mr. Sanford is the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for European Affairs. At USTR, his responsibilities include the development and implementation of U.S. trade policy with the European Union (EU), with particular attention to European regulatory issues and U.S.-EU regulatory cooperation. Sanford has also negotiated mutual recognition agreements with the EU and European Free Trade Association, and chapters of U.S. Free Trade Agreements with Bahrain, Oman, and United Arab Emirates.

Prior to joining USTR in 1998, he served as an international economist with the Commerce Department and as an economic analyst at the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. He received a Masters from the University of Michigan and graduated from Swarthmore College.
