People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The International Code Council (Code Council), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Judy Zakreski is its new vice president of global services. In this role, Ms. Zakreski will represent the organization internationally and develop global awareness of Code Council, the International Codes, and other Code Council products and services.

Ms. Zakreski joins Code Council with many years of experience in operations management, business development, and government relations. She was previously president and CEO of China Trade Strategies, a firm that dealt with market entry and export finance between the U.S. and China. She also spent 20 years at Chindex International and Chindex Medical Limited. Ms. Zakreski holds an M.A. in international commerce and policy from George Mason University and studied at Peking University in Beijing. She speaks Mandarin Chinese.

"The ICC Family of Companies is active in many countries around the world, promoting safe, sustainable, affordable, and resilient structures and communities through a variety of products and services," said Code Council CEO Dominic Sims. "Judy brings a wealth of international knowledge and expertise to her role at the Code Council, and she will work closely with the senior management team to elevate and expand our global footprint."

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has appointed Thomas Bause Mason as director of standards development.

Prior to joining SMPTE, Mr. Bause Mason was the owner and managing director of Open Media Consulting. He also spent many years with NBCUniversal, where he worked with emerging digital media technology and supported the company's international business through their London office. He served as NBCUniversal's lead on the Video Services Forum (VSF) TR-03/TR-04 and SMPTE ST 2110 standardization efforts. Over the course of his career, Mr. Bause Mason has worked with industry organizations in the development of standards, technical recommendations, and study group reports. He chaired the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) Media of IP (MoIP) Subcommittee, organized the MoIP Workshop that promoted the use of SMPTE ST 2110, and chaired the SMPTE Studio Group on Flow Management in Professional Media Networks.

"Thomas has a profound understanding of the standards that guide our industry, and he has played a vital role in their development," said SMPTE standards vice president Bruce Devlin. "We are fortunate to have him join the SMPTE staff and contribute his expertise to the Society's full spectrum of standards work."
