The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) announced that Megan Tanel has been promoted vice president of exhibitions.

In her new role, Ms. Tanel will oversee all AEM show activities for events based in the United States, including the CONEXPO-CON/AGG construction exhibition and the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE).

Seeking to expand its growth in emerging markets, particularly in the agricultural show sector, AEM has formed a new international exhibitions department to coordinate its overseas shows such as CONEXPO Asia and CONEXPO Russia. Larry Charrlin will lead this effort as AEM's executive director of international exhibitions.

AEM also announced that Richard Jefferson has been named senior director of public relations. In this role, he will develop and oversee activities that gain visibility for the AEM membership and industry, particularly in the areas of public policy, global business and workforce development.

An expert on external affairs, strategic planning, writing, reporting and message management, Mr. Jefferson has more than twenty years of experience in communications and management, and has worked in government, educational and business settings.

In his last assignment, he served as director of external affairs for the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Office of Public Affairs in Washington, DC. He has also managed the public relations activities of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, was legislative liaison with Virginia’s secretary of natural resources, and early in his career was a newspaper reporter and photographer.

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Judith Ramsey has been promoted to director of membership.

In this position, she will be responsible for developing relationships with existing members, identifying and enrolling new members, and updating member benefits and products.

Recently serving as manager of customer service and editor of The Reference Point, the membership's technical journal, Ms. Ramsey has been involved with membership and customer service activities since joining ABYC in 1998.

Before ABYC, she worked with Heritage Books, a genealogical publisher, the San Diego Girl Scout Council, and the U.S. House of Representatives.
