U.S. Chamber and ACUS Host Implementation Summit on Incorporation by Reference and International Regulatory Cooperation

ANSI's Scott Cooper to Speak on IBR

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Global Regulatory Cooperation and the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) will be holding a summit on Next Steps and Implementation of ACUS Recommendations on Incorporation by Reference (IBR) and International Regulatory Cooperation (IRC) on Tuesday, May 1, in Washington, DC. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages all members and stakeholders to attend this event of critical importance to the entire standardization community.

The summit will take the form of two discussion panels, opening with a keynote speaker and expert panelists from both the public and private sectors to present insights on each topic. The first panel, on "Incorporation by Reference," will feature keynote remarks from Cameron Kerry, general counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). Panelists to follow will be:

  • Neil R. Eisner, Assistant General Counsel for Regulation and Enforcement, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Scott Cooper, Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy, American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
  • Emily S. Bremer, Attorney Advisor, Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS)
  • Cheryl Falvey, General Counsel, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
The second panel, on "International Regulatory Cooperation," will feature keynote remarks by Jeff Weiss, associate administrator, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. Speaking on the second panel will be:

  • C. Boyden Gray, former U.S. Ambassador to the European Union
  • Hugh Stevenson, Deputy Director, Office of International Affairs, U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
  • Murray "Mac" Lumpkin, Commissioner's Senior Advisor and Representative for Global Issues, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Michael Fitzpatrick, Senior Manager and Senior Counsel, Government and Regulatory Affairs, General Electric
