People on the Move

New York, Mar 13, 2009

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Mary Logan as its new president, effective April 6, 2009.

She succeeds Mike Miller, who retired as AAMI’s president after nearly forty years of service.

In this position, she will lead AAMI’s future efforts, such as new member services and programs, a strong position in medical technology management, and collaborative relationships with outside stakeholders throughout the world.

With twenty years of senior management experience, she previously served as chief operating officer (COO) and general counsel of the American Dental Association (ADA), and prior to that, as general counsel for the global finance and administrative arm of The United Methodist Church.

American Petroleum Institute (API), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has named Duane P. Brown as senior standards associate.

In his new role, Mr. Brown will focus on API measurement standards of petroleum and related products, and natural gas, as part of API Committee on Gas Fluids Measurement.

Before joining API, he had worked for five years as a standards engineer at the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), where he managed more than eighty industry recognized standards and guidelines.

Formerly a project engineer at MET Laboratories, and an applications engineer at the United Power Corporation, Mr. Brown holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering technology from the Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA.
