OMB Officer to Address November ANSI Caucus

Washington, DC, Oct 15, 2004

On Friday, November 5, 2004, the ANSI Caucus will feature Jacqueline "Jackie" Zeiher, who serves as a desk officer in the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the Executive Office of the President.

Of particular interest to the standards community is Ms. Zeiher’s role as the OMB point of contact for OMB-A-119, the Executive Order which defines executive branch use of voluntary standards and instructs agencies on participation in standards development activities. She also has the final sign-off on the annual report to Congress, which is prepared by NIST and covers agency use of voluntary standards.

Ms. Zeiher has been at OMB since 2001. Prior to her service at OMB, she worked in the Department of Education , the U.S. Navy, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Her diverse federal experience makes her an effective advocate for agency use of standards.

"Ms. Zeiher's work is of interest to everyone in the voluntary standards community, and we are looking forward to the perspective that she will give our ANSI Caucus members into the nuances of the OMB and government use of voluntary standards,” said David Karmol, ANSI vice president of public policy and government affairs.

The event will begin at 11:30 am with general networking, and lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. The University Club is located at 1135 16th Street, between L and M streets. To RSVP, please contact Jessica Karp ( by Friday, October 29.

The November sponsor is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). ANSI Caucus luncheons are held on the first Friday of each month and are free to ANSI members.
