"ANSI Member " Icon Introduced

New York, Apr 12, 2002

Recognizing that strong brand recognition is imperative when solidifying the linkage between an organization and its members, the American National Standards Institute Membership Department announced today the introduction of a new graphic icon for use by ANSI members.

The icon may be used on the websites of ANSI members as a mechanism for demonstrating its affiliation with the Institute and the U.S. standards and conformity assessment community. The graphic may also be used as a hyperlink to the ANSI Online website.

"We encourage our members to utilize this graphic as a mechanism for highlighting their membership in the Institute," said Greg Fine, the Institute's director of membership marketing. "By using the icon on their websites, our members are identifying themselves as organizations that are committed to strengthening their voice in the standardization and conformity assessment activities affecting their respective industry sectors." [Editor's Note: ANSI provides links to its members' websites via the Membership Directory on ANSI Online.]

The "ANSI Member" Icon has been designed so that it resembles the new ANSI trademark (logo), but carries its own distinct message. Because ANSI does not itself audit, assess, register, or certify management systems, products, services, materials or personnel, it has restricted use of its trademarked logo so as to avoid any false impression that ANSI carries out certification activities, or has otherwise approved or authorized any third-party organization.
