Team ANSI Participates in Revlon Run/Walk for Women

Fundraising efforts surpass original goal

New York, May 04, 2006

On Saturday, May 6, Team ANSI (#1019) will join more than 40,000 men, women and children to hit the streets of New York City in the fight to keep women healthy. Money raised during the 9th Annual New York Revlon Run/Walk For Women will help ensure that women's cancer research, counseling and outreach programs are well funded. Twelve members of the American National Standards Insitute's (ANSI) New York staff along with six friends and family members will participate in this five-kilometer event.

Starting in New York's Time Square and finishing in the East Meadow of Central Park, the Revlon Run/Walk is an annual fundraising campaign to raise awareness and significant funds to drive research that will result in prevention education, early diagnostic indicators, treatments and ultimately, a cure for women's cancers. Proceeds from the Revlon Run/Walk For Women are distributed to a variety of charitable organizations leading the fight against breast and ovarian cancer. Funds are distributed to scientists who are doing the best, cutting-edge research throughout the United States as well as to local beneficiaries.

Created in 1993 through the committed and collective efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman, The Davis Group, and Rehage Entertainment, the Revlon Run/Walk For Women has grown to become one of the nation's largest 5K fundraising events. To date, the Run/Walks (LA/NY) have distributed nearly 37 million dollars for cancer research, counseling, and outreach programs. Thanks in part to these funds, new treatments are being developed and lives are being saved.

"This is ANSI's fifth year participating in the Revlon Run/Walk to help foster cancer research programs," said ANSI standards administrator and ANSI Team captain Heather Benko. "We are thrilled to have surpassed our goal of $2000, with more than $3000 in sponsorships."
