ANSI to Sponsor International Personnel Certification Summit, July 13-14, 2004

Washington, DC, Apr 15, 2004

Personnel certification programs exist in nearly every industry, helping to validate public confidence in the individuals that supply products and services, and attesting to the credibility of their credentials around the world. On July 13-14, 2004, the American National Standards Institute will sponsor an International Personnel Certification Summit, “The 21st Century Solution to Workforce Competitiveness,” in Washington, DC. The summit is designed to offer up-to-date information regarding how external forces are driving the need for increased accountability in the personnel certification arena.

Panel presentations and group discussions will explore how the international standard ISO/IEC 17024, General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons, can be a vehicle for demonstrating an organization’s commitment to quality and accountability to its stakeholders (employers, regulators and lawmakers), as well as increasing domestic and international business opportunities.

Participants will discuss how the federal and state government, the general public, consumers of certification services, and employers are influencing the need for increased accountability in the personnel certification arena. Taking a global view, the event will demystify the international system for accrediting personnel certification bodies, and explain how the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – and specifically the international standard ISO/IEC 17024 – fits into the international system to facilitate Multilateral Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) between nations. The agenda will also include a review of the specific requirements of the ANSI Accreditation Process for Personnel Certification Bodies.

The event will draw federal lawmakers, state regulators and other government officials along with representatives from Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, personnel certification bodies and international accreditation officials.

Advance Registration (by July 9, 2004) for ANSI Members is $295.00; non-members, $345.00. After July 9, registration will be $345.00 for ANSI Members and $395.00 for non-members. Teams of two or more people from the same organization receive $25 off the individual registration fee for each person registered. On-site registration is subject to availability.
